Who this is for

Use this guide when you want the AI assistant to answer detailed product questions from a catalogue, spreadsheet export, or product feed.

Minimum fields

  • One row per product.
  • A clear product name or title.
  • A stable product ID, SKU, product code, EAN, GTIN, or MPN.

Strongly recommended fields

  • Product URL for citations and product links.
  • Price, retail price, RRP, sale price, and availability.
  • Description or short product summary.
  • Dimensions with clear units, for example Width (mm), Door Width (mm), Weight (kg), or Delivery Days.
  • Brand, colour, material, treatment, warranty, included items, excluded items, care tips, and product FAQs.

Supported formats

  • CSV is preferred for most users.
  • TSV and XML are also suitable when exported cleanly.
  • For recurring live feeds, export Excel files to CSV first unless support has confirmed direct spreadsheet handling for your account.

Column naming tips

  • Use readable column names, not internal abbreviations.
  • Put units in column headers where possible.
  • Keep one consistent column for each meaning, such as Retail Price for the customer selling price and RRP for the recommended retail price.

Private or internal columns

Some catalogues include commercial fields such as supplier cost, margin, ranking score, internal notes, or merchandising score. Label these clearly as internal/private. The system can keep selected internal fields out of customer-visible answers, but ambiguous private data should be removed or renamed before upload.

Before you upload

  • Check the first row contains column headers.
  • Check every product has a name and stable product code.
  • Check multiline descriptions are exported as proper quoted CSV, not broken line-by-line text.
  • Check dimensions and delivery fields include units.
  • Remove or clearly label private commercial fields.
  • Preview the import and confirm the sample products look right before approving.

Example CSV columns

Product Name, Product Code, Brand, Retail Price, RRP, URL, Description, Width (mm), Depth (mm), Height (mm), Door Width (mm), Delivery Days, Includes, Excludes, Item FAQs

What the AI does with the feed

Each product row becomes a searchable product knowledge document. Product URLs are used for citations and product links; they are not automatically crawled as website pages. During refreshes, the new parsed product rows supersede the old active product documents so answers stay aligned with the latest catalogue.
